If you ever wondered how Queen’s Victoria undergarments looked like, you have now the opportunity to admire some of them.
From an article published in DailyMail I find out that some of Queen’s stockings will pe sold at an auction witch will take place next month.
“Examples of the Queen’s undergarments have long been considered the crowning acquisitions for Victoriana collectors around the world.
Along with the rest of her wardrobe, they were distributed to members of the Royal household upon the monarch’s death in 1901.
Much as her knickers betrayed her ever-expanding girth, so the Queen’s stockings - seemingly barely knee-length - expose her lack of height.
Both share the same high-calibre stitchwork, but the stockings have a crest instead of the panties’ monogrammed ‘VR’ - for Victoria Regina.
Vanessa Savage, a textile consultant at Hanson’s, said: ‘The quality of the stitching and the crest is beautiful. They are clearly of royal pedigree.”
